Benahavis Area Guide

Benahavis is a lovely little village set up in the mountains 500 metres above sea level, 7km away from the coast and only ten minutes drive from Marbella. The buildings are ancient, small and Spanish white, cut up by windy thin cobbled streets that are lined with orange trees, and so many quaint Spanish restaurants to choose from that all have character and charm. Its the  type of place that you would visit and then after say" I must bring  my family here next time I come". Beautifully set in between the lush mountains of the Southern  face of the Serrania de Ronda, with various rivers running  alongside it, it is known as a culturally, rich town, with many  artists taking residence here from as far back as the 60’s not to  mention the highest concentration of gourmet restaurants in the  area. A visit to the centre of the village is recommended for its  characteristic pattern of winding streets, white houses and small,  secluded squares. The views are breath taking and the residents  very friendly and helpful. The favourite sport of golf is catered for in the municipality of Benahavis which boasts five major championship golf courses, La Quinta, Los Arqueros, Los Flamengos, Monte Mayor, La Zagaleta, and Marbella Club Golf which also provides stabling and a spectacular horse riding experience in its equestrian centre.
